Todd's Saga 6: Enchantment (mild Adult)

Blair rolled over on the bed, content to just look at him.  He was beautiful when he slept.  Her hand lightly traveled down his sculpted body. He had always been fit but now every muscle was more defined.  There hadn’t been much talk when they had arrived at the room.  The time away from each other had only served to make their need for each other all the more urgent.  Now she had all these questions about what he had been up to for the last three weeks, but they could wait.  She leaned forward and began to lightly kiss his chest.

Todd awoke to feather light kisses descending down his body. He laid there quietly, soaking in the feelings her soft lips made against his skin.  As she continued down, Todd became more and more aroused.

Blair smiled to herself as she heard Todd’s gasp and she continued to play with him. When he was ready, she got on top of him and looked down into his hazel eyes.  Todd’s hands came up on either side of her hips and gave her support as she stroked his chest one more time with her fingers and began to ride him.

She was a goddess above him, her green eyes sparkling as her palms rested on his abs.  She rode him like she had sat atop Araby, totally absorbed, her face flushed with pleasure and exhilaration.  Todd took her where she wanted to go, riding free into the night.

Blair collapsed on Todd’s chest, she tingled all over and held onto the feeling as she once again caressed his chest and began to play with the hair curled there.  Todd’s hand was gently playing with her hair.  “Mmmm. Keep doing that. It feels so good.”  He chuckled, and Blair looked up at him puzzled. “What?”

Todd looked down at her and smiled. “I  just remembered a day a long time ago when I ask you if you liked that and you turned around and got up and left me to go into Melador.”

Blair blushed as she remembered the afternoon when she had come home and Todd had attempted to make her happy. “I’m sorry, it was wrong of me to use you that day.” She looked at him trying to read his face.  “I was very confused in those days, but you know that isn’t the case now, right?  I love you so much, it hurts, Todd.”

He put a gentle finger to her lips. “It’s alright Blair.  I knew what I was getting into back in those days.  What I hadn’t counted on was how fast I fell for you.  I kept trying to stop myself and didn’t want to admit it, but somewhere between Xmas and Addie’s Birthday, it happened and from then on, there was no turning back for me.”  He paused, as she laid her head down on his chest and his hand went back to stroking her hair.  They were both lost in the memory of that fateful night when Blair ended up being mugged and losing their first child. Todd broke the silence. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories.”

Blair shook her head slowly. “Don’t Todd.  What happened that night is a memory we’ll always carry with us.  We lost our son, but it made us stronger.  We’ve had many memories good and bad over the years, but now they all seemed to have led us here.  We’re together and we have another child on the way, and I’m still head over heels in love with you.  I’m going to concentrate on that.”  She lifted her head and looked directly at him.  “Just remember, you promised you’d be home for this birth.  I’m holding you to that.”

Todd gripped her by her shoulders and drew her up to him. “I‘ll be there.  Even if I have to go to hell and back.”  He sealed his statement by kissing her.

When they parted from the kiss, Blair nestled into his shoulder and said lazily. “It’s getting light outside.  Do you have any place you need to be, Mr. Manning? Because I can think of nothing I’d like better than to spend the rest of the day right here.”

“Unfortunately that isn’t going to be possible.  I’m checking out of this room shortly and I need to get you back to your hotel before someone wonders where you got off to last night.” Todd waited for the explosion.  He didn’t wait long.

Blair sat up abruptly. glaring down at Todd.  “What is this?  Wam, Bam, Thank you, Mam! Sure glad you stopped down for some fun.  Is that all I am to you these days?   A one night stand and then you’re off on another adventure.”

Todd marveled how gorgeous she looked when her temper flared.  He reached to stop her as she started to roll out of the bed. “Blair, Stop.  Let me explain.”

His hand was like a vise, and Blair sat back down on the edge of the bed with her back to him. She didn’t want him to see the tears that were beginning to fall.  Todd moved directly behind her. “You said you were here on business, didn’t you? “

She nodded, still refusing to look at him.

“Did you finish that business when we met last night?”

        She shook her head no.

“That’s what I thought.  Does anyone know you were coming to New Orleans?”

This time she shook her head yes.

“I’m guessing that someone is probably Dorian and if I know her she’s going to be checking up on you.   Don’t you see, you need to get your business finished, and you need to connect with Dorian before she gets curious.”

Todd was right.  Dorian would be calling her, and she still had to go hear that band. “But Todd…” Blair reached up to brush off her tears.

“I know Blair, you didn’t plan on seeing me.  It was fate.  I want you to do something for me.  I want you to go back to your hotel and then go do whatever you came here to do.  I need to make sure no one is following you, and one night in this dump is enough for me.   I’m going to relocate.  Get your business finished and I’ll contact you.  Okay?”

Blair turned around as his words sunk in.  “You mean you’re not going to disappear?”

Todd saw she had been crying and he leaned in and kissed the remains of her tears away. “I’m not going to disappear.  I just need to take care of a few things before we see each other later.  Now does that meet with your approval?”

Blair flung her arms around his neck. “Oh yes.  I’ll get finished with the band and fend off Dorian, then I’ll wait for you to contact me.  Oh yes, yes, yes.’’ She squeezed him tightly and began to cover his face with kisses.  Then she giggled as Todd pulled her back down on top of him intent on returning her kisses with some of his own.

Later, as dawn rose over the city, Todd stood watching from a block away as Blair entered her hotel.  He stayed there for several minutes before heading to catch a cab back to his hotel.  He was just checking out when Sid exited the elevator.

“Hey Tony, where’s that beauty you headed out with last night?”

“Sid, my Momma taught me a gentleman never kisses and tells.”

Sid winked, “Oh I get it, she’s still here, huh.   Gotta hand it to you.  The way you got her attention last night was a work of art.  I’ll have to give it a try one of these days.  Well, I’m off to get some breakfast, want to come.”

“No thanks, I’ve already had mine.  Look, I don’t like to keep a lady waiting, I’ll see you guys Monday.”   Todd saw Sid smirk and let him go on believing what he wanted.  A short while later he left the hotel and took his cab to his next destination.

Blair had wasted no time getting to her room.  Once there, she opened the bag Todd had handed her as she left.  She laughed when she saw the mask, scarf, and boa, Todd had bought the previous night.  She ran to the bathroom and draped the scarf and boa around herself just like Todd had done and then put on the Mask.  “Blair, you little hussy, you’re downright alluring.  What would Dorian say if she saw you now?”  She laughed again and took the articles off and gently placed them in her luggage.

Blair was stepping out of the shower when the phone rang in her room.  Judging by the hour she doubted it was Cutter so that only left one person.  Wrapping the towel around her, she answered it. “Hello, Dorian.”

“How did you know it was me?  And where have you been all night?”

“I was out.  It’s New Orleans, and the city is alive with festivities this close to Halloween.  I told you I needed to unwind and get away from things.  What’s so important you’ve been calling me so much?   Are the boys alright?”

“Of course the boys are alright.  So, you were out most of the night.   Please tell me you met someone fantastic, who knows how to treat a lady.”

“Actually, I did, and he was quite charming.” She thought back to Todd’s caveman approach the previous night and laughed. “ I’m meeting him later today after I complete my business for the club.”

“Good girl, I’m glad you’re getting back out there.  There are far better men then that bastard who’s taken your heart all these years.  I’ll stop bothering you.  Have a good time and I’ll keep the boys under control here.  We’ll see you Monday.”

Blair controlled her temper, which had flared when Dorian mentioned Todd, and instead said sweetly.  “Thank you, Dorian.  I appreciate all you do for me.  Yes, I’ll be home Monday.  Give the boys my love. Bye now.”  She hung up and proceeded to get dressed.  One chore out of the way.  Dorian had been appeased.  Now she just had to listen to the band and her business would be finished, and she and Todd could have the rest of the weekend to themselves.

It was late afternoon when Blair returned to her hotel.  The band had proven to be an excellent suggestion, and she had spent the last hour negotiating with their manager and getting dates set for them to appear at Shelter.   As she prepared to enter the elevator, she was stopped by a bellboy who handed her a message and a package.  Because she wasn’t alone in the elevator, she waited to read her note until she was safely in her room.

Blair, pack light and wear this for this evening.  Put a “Do Not Disturb” on your door and leave by the employee entrance.   Your ride will be waiting outside at five o’clock sharp.  PS.  My name is now Mr. Butler, and frankly, My Dear, don’t forget your mask.
T.

Blair laughed at Todd’s fanciful quip and opened the package that he had sent.  She lifted out the formal length lace gown.  It was an exquisite convection of champagne lace with intricate black vines weaving through the fabric and rhinestones glinting from the petals at the end of the vines.  Soon, she slipped it over her head.   Her breath caught as the cool softness of the silk underdress caressed her skin.  She wasn’t surprised that it fit her to a tee. Todd had always had an uncanny ability knowing her size.  The outfit was complete when she placed the feather mask on her face.  She looked like a fairy princess on her way to a masked ball.  Whatever Todd had in mind, she was sure it was going to spectacular.  She put the final touches of makeup on and packed her teddy and some toiletries. Todd had said to pack light, and the teddy was the lightest thing she had.  Knowing Todd, he would take care of anything else she might need.

Turning on one light, Blair took a last look around and put the ‘Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.  In case anyone was keeping an eye on her, she had called down to the desk and informed them she was under the weather suddenly and didn’t want to be bothered with phone calls or visitors.  Then she made her way carefully to the employee entrance and exited.  She stepped outside and there in front of her was a horse-drawn carriage.  The coachman jumped down when he saw her and helped her into his carriage.

“Good evening, Miss.  Mr. Butler said I should tell you to sit back and enjoy the ride.  I was also told to give you this.”  He reaches into his seat and picked up a beautiful gold tipped black rose and handed it to her.

Blair accepted it and inhaled its fragrance. Todd had indeed thought of everything.  She sat back in the carriage.  Being masked, she enjoyed the anonymity and the looks that visitors and revelers in the city were giving her. She could imagine all sorts of questions they were probably asking themselves.  “Coachman, can you tell me where we are headed?”

"Yes, Miss, we’re headed to the Garden District.  Right pretty area in our fair town.  Mr. Butler told me he thought you might like it.”

Shortly, the carriage turned into an elegant area of town, and  she looked around at the beautiful homes surrounding her.  The sun was just beginning to set as the carriage turned into a driveway of a huge mansion.  It looked like something right out of “Gone with the Wind”.  “There must be some kind of mistake.  Mr. Butler told you to bring me here?”

He pulled his horse to a stop at the front entrance. “ Yes, Miss.”  He jumped down to help her out. “ Mr. Butler is inside. Allow me.”  He took her hand and escorted her to the front door and opened it.  “I hope you have a beautiful evening, Miss.   Goodnight.”

Blair nodded at the coachman and entered the home, stunned by the beauty of it.  It was like stepping back into time.  From the moment she had dressed in the gown, everything had seemed surreal.  She heard footsteps and looked up to see Todd walking down the stairs in an elegant black tuxedo, his Phantom mask in place.  He held out his hand, and she walked forward to take it.  "Todd this is..."  He touched her lips, silencing her, and smiled mysteriously, then he led her into a magnificent dining room.  Myriads of candles filled the room, and in the corner, a string quartet began to play.  Blair recognized the melody. It was “This Is My Beloved”.  Without saying a word, Todd swept her into a dance.   As the music came to the end, Todd slowed to a halt and gently removed her mask and then his. He tilted her face to his.  “To my past, present, and forever future wife,  welcome to your honeymoon.” His lips captured hers, his passion no longer contained.
