Port Charles Chronicles: Chapter 21 (Adult)

Todd stood in the doorway, staring at the picture in front of him. Blair was at the window and John was hovering nearby.  He had walked in just in time to hear Blair’s last question.

“I’m right here.” He watched as Blair swung around and then hurled herself at him. “Oh God!  I’ve been so worried.” Blair hugged him tightly, afraid to let go.

He staggered, as she clung to him.  He was feeling shaky but put it down to too much drink and no dinner. Todd held her close, loving the feel of her and curious as to why she was trembling.  Had McBain upset her?  “What are you doing here?“ He asked, looking  at John.

John took a good look at Todd.   He was sweating and seemed unsteady on his feet.  The only thing probably holding him up was Blair.  From her reaction to his appearance, John knew there was more going on then Todd just missing a few hours.  “I came to talk to you about what happened this afternoon.  Are you alright?  You don’t look too good.”

“Gee, thanks for your concern.  I’m fine.”  He wasn’t, but John didn’t need to know that.  “I don’t suppose it occurred to you I might not want to talk about this afternoon.  Did you have to scare Blair?”

“I didn’t even know Blair was here until I knocked.  I had no intention of scaring her.”  Blair had been frantic before he even got there and he was pretty sure finding out about the shooting wasn’t what had bothered her.  “I stopped by to tell you Falconeri figured out where the shots came from.  They’re pretty sure the shooter was in a boat out on the lake.  The angle of the shots was all wrong for the shooter to have been on Spoon Island.”

“No kidding, I already figured that.  Whoever it was, didn’t want to be seen in Port Charles.  A boat would make it easier to hit and get out of there. Is there anything else?  If not, I’d wish you’d leave.” He needed to sit down but didn’t want to appear weak.  His legs felt like rubber.

Blair had stopped trembling but continued to hold on to Todd, she could tell something was still wrong.  She had taken a look at Todd after John’s remark and he was right. Todd didn’t look “fine”. Was he just feeling the effects of the drinks or was there another problem?  She needed John to go.  “Yes, you delivered your message.  If the police have any more questions for Todd, they can ask them tomorrow.  I know you had no idea I would be here.  I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t mention anything to Natalie about where you ran into me.  You do understand, I hope.”

“Relax Blair, it’s none of my business, but I won’t add to your worries.  Todd, you need to be careful.  I don’t think this guy is finished with you yet.” John exited the room, pulling the door closed behind him.  He felt uneasy about the whole situation and now he was also beginning to feel uncertain about everything concerning Victor.  Damn it, what is it about you, Manning?   John shook his head, he had come to Port Charles to get Sonny Corinthos, how the hell had he gotten sucked back into Manning’s problems?

As soon as the door closed, Todd felt his legs giving out and made his way to the couch before collapsing. “I thought he’d never leave.  I’m not sure how much longer I could have stayed standing.  Man, I don’t feel good.  I don’t remember liquor having this effect on me before.” He leaned his head back and began rubbing his arms trying to get warmer.

Blair went into the bedroom and brought out the throw on the end of the bed and covered him then sat down next to him.  She touch his forehead and realized he was burning up. “You’re feverish, you must be coming down with the flu.  Why didn’t you say you weren’t feeling good earlier?  It’s no wonder you were cranky down in the lounge.”

“You’re kidding right.  The flu?   What’s next?  Whatever it is, I feel like crap.” He shifted and moved away from Blair.  “You should probably spend the night with Starr.  You don’t want to get this and give it to the boys.”  He looked around.  “I figured you’d already be packed if you’re leaving in the morning.  Where are your suitcases?” Before she could get a word in edgewise, he jumped to the wrong conclusion.  “Oh, I get it, you already had them taken down.  You’re leaving tonight.  Look don’t worry about me.  You go home.  I’ve taken up way too much of your time already.” He stumbled off the couch and went into the bedroom slamming the door behind him.  He had to get away from her.  He was feeling lousy and he was afraid the longer he was with her, he was going to be begging her to stay.  He had only begged once and that was when Powell threatened to shoot him.  Powell was crazy and he knew the man would pull the trigger.  He hadn’t wanted to die so he had begged and it had stuck in his craw ever since.  He had vowed he would never beg another person for anything.  Todd stumbled to the bed and curled up trying to stop the chills wracking him.  His thoughts began to wander.

He was back on the roof.  Drained from letting all the emotion out, and unable to think clearly, his head was filled with images of Blair packing and preparing to leave.   He had forced himself to head back to his suite and now he wished he hadn’t.  John said he had been there just to tell him about the shooter, but he had looked awfully close to Blair.  Had that really been what he was doing there?   Maybe Blair had arranged to meet the guy while she was in Port Charles.  They had once been married.  What had Blair meant about not telling Natalie where they ran into each other?   Todd was getting hotter and he sat up and tore his shirt off and flopped back onto the pillow.  She was lying to him, he knew it.   That was why she had flown into his arms.  She didn’t want him to know about John.   Todd covered his eyes with his forearm.  God, he was so hot.  Stop it.  It’s not true.  She’s not here to see John.  She said she came to be with you.

You’re just kidding yourself.  I thought you had figured that out when she chose Tomas over you.  She’s always going to leave you for the white knight type.

Todd moaned and cringed as he found himself face to face with his mother on the bed.  He rolled away taking his pillow and covering his ears.  “Go away I’m not going to listen to you anymore.” Deep down he feared she was right.  Blair was going to go and not return.

Turning away from me isn’t going to block out the truth as you know it.  You  mismanaged your life the moment you took out your rage on those girls all those years ago.  You’ll never escape your true self.  You are Victor’s son through and through.

Blair walked into the room to find Todd curled up on the bed, moaning.  “Todd?”  She went to the bed.  He had left the outer room so upset, and it was alarming how quickly he had voiced his belief that she was going.  She had heard the pain but he hadn’t let her respond.  He was obviously ill and it was affecting his state of mind.

He was trying to shut out Irene’s voice, but it wasn’t happening.  “Why do you hate me so much?” He stared off the edge of the bed where Irene now knelt in front of him.

She smiled cruelly.  “You were the reason Victor turned his back on me.  I wasn’t young enough for him any longer.  I thought he would be pleased to have twin sons.  But my children weren’t good enough for him.”  She reached to pat his cheek and Todd fought to keep from spewing his guts.  To his feverish mind, the cold from her hand burned into his cheek.  His scar suddenly felt like it had been touched by a branding iron.

Blair was down on the floor trying to get Todd’s attention, the fever had obviously gotten worse in a short amount of time.  She was startled at his question.  “Todd, I don’t hate you.  I love you.  You’re sick and not thinking straight.” she reached, as she always did, to caress his cheek, trying to make him understand her love; and was dumbfounded when he hissed and pulled back as if struck.   Still, her single touch confirmed her fears.  Todd was indeed sick and it was going to be a rough night for him.  He didn’t say anything else just stared and she began to wonder if he even saw her.  “Whatever this is it’s hit you hard.  I wish I knew where you were the last few hours” She placed both hands on his face and tried to get him to focus.  “It’s me, Blair, I going to get something to cool you down.  Do you understand?”

Irene had disappeared and a beautiful blonde with legs up to heaven was on the floor in front of him.  He was drunk, but he’d show her a good time. “Hey, Babe, did you come up to jump my bones after all?  You liked to play with fire, don’t you?” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her to him, planting a kiss on her gorgeous lips.  “I knew it, you taste like honey.”

Blair was caught off guard but melted into his kiss.  He wasn’t making any sense but he had stopped being upset with her.  God, his lips are burning hot.  She realized he was delirious. “I need you to get up.” She tugged at his arm and attempted to sweep his feet off the bed to the floor.

“Hey, I thought you wanted to have some fun.  Oh, I get it.  You want to dance with me.  Sure, why didn’t you say so?”  He stood up, suddenly and gathered her into his arms and began twirling her around.  He started to nuzzle her neck. “Come on loosen up.  This is what you came up here for.”

It took every bit of strength she had to resist him, she needed to get him into the shower She was scared, his skin was dry and extremely hot to the touch.  She steered him toward the bathroom and then smiled at him. “Let’s skip the dance.  How about joining me for a shower?”

Todd’s eyes gleamed as he let her go and stripped of his remaining clothes.  He felt a little dizzy and grabbed the counter to stay upright.  He watched as she began to remove her own clothes. ”You need a little help there? “

Blair felt flushed as he stood staring at her.  It was strange, they had made love in so many ways and places but this was the first time she felt shy.  She had figured out that Todd thought he was back in Rodi’s and she found herself remembering how turned on she had been at his outrageous offer.  Now with his feverish eyes, full of lust, looking at her, she wanted him as badly as he wanted her.  She stepped out of her panties and started the water in the shower.  It was tepid, but to him, it would feel ice cold.  She pulled him in, catching him as he stumbled a little.  She pretended that he had just wanted to get to her faster. “Hey, there’s no rush, I’m not going anywhere.”

At her phrase, Todd paused and shook his head, everything was a little fuzzy and he was having trouble keeping his thoughts together.   He steadied himself and stepped under the water stream and almost screamed.  “God, woman, I thought you wanted to have a little fun. This cold water’s not the way to go about it.”

Blair moved closer and began rubbing her body against his and felt him relax.  “It’s not cold, maybe the water tank here is on the fritz.” She kept him under the stream and ran her hands down his back and felt his hands begin to fondle her.  He was trembling and she had a feeling part of it was his fever but surprisingly his body began to respond to her even though he was sick.  “Never let it be said, you have trouble in that department, mister, “ she whispered in his ear and then trailed some kisses down his neck.

He was struggling to give her the good time she deserved. His legs felt like rubber but he had to admit, she knew what it took to turn him on.  If he didn’t know better he would have thought they had done this before.  “Babe, there’s something about you that would make any man hard.  Got to say, I’m sorry about the water but you’re warming me up pretty good. “  As her kisses began traveling down his body, he trembled and felt on fire.  Was it her or something else?  Now the water was beginning to feel good, like a cool lake.  Todd staggered almost losing his balance as the image of a tranquil lake beckoned to him.  He was uncertain where he was, his body was burning up, but he knew he was with Blair.   All he could think of was that she was leaving. He leaned his head against Blair’s. “Don’t go.”  He desperately pulled her mouth to his and used the wall to support her.  She clung to him as he entered her, wrapping her legs around him.

Slowly he began moving in and out, listening to her small gasps of pleasure.  He felt the beating of the water on his back and realized it was some kind of fluctuating rhythm.  He began moving in sync with the water on his back and his lips and teeth started a trail down her neck and shoulder.  The water had turned her body slick as she rubbed against his, and as one arm held her waist, his other hand caressed her curves, making its way to her tight rounded bottom.  She purred in his ear as he fondled it.  He picked up the pace as she tightened around him like a glove and began moaning aloud.  Her nails dug into his back as she got closer to coming, and the slight pain was like an electric current that shot through him. “Come on Babe, that's it, let it go,” he whispered, feeling his own rush.  His mouth found her's and together they spiraled to the top.

All was silent except for Blair’s sigh of pleasure as she relaxed in Todd’s arms.  Todd was spent.  His muscles were trembling and he feared he was going to drop Blair.  He gripped the edge of the shower stall as his legs started to give, afraid they would both fall.  He lifted his head and looked around, he couldn’t remember how they got into the shower.  “Babe, I can’t hold you anymore.  Get down.” He held on long enough for her to stand again on her own then slumped against the wall.

Blair moved quickly, getting under his one arm and helping him out of the shower and back to the bed. She toweled him off and had him lay down.  “Take it easy.  I’ll be right back.”  She covered him with a sheet and went back into the bathroom to turn off the water and dry herself off.   Walking out of the bathroom, she saw him watching for her and saw him relax against the pillow when she appeared.  She sat on the edge of the bed and touched his forehead. He was still feverish but not quite as hot.  She knew something had occurred in the shower to bring him out of the delirium.  His words and the desperation in his initial kiss made her wonder if he was convinced she was going.  She wasn’t sure if she should bring up the topic.  He was obviously still concerned.  “How are you feeling?”

“Like something the cat dragged home.  I don’t understand.  It’s been hours since my last drink.”

“It’s not a hangover, you’ve got the flu, I think.  You’re running a fever.  I had to cool you down.”

Todd smiled weakly. “So that’s why we were in the shower.  I’ve got to say, I’ll take your kind of nursing any day.”

“Well, you’re the only patient that gets that particular treatment.  Are you hungry, you haven’t had any dinner?”

Todd wearily shook his head. “Not hungry.”  He reached and snagged her hand. “I need to know.  Are you going to stay?”

Blair covered his hand with her other one. “I promise you, I’m not going anywhere, Todd.”
