Port Charles Chronicles: Chapter 2 (adult)

Coleman walked over and shook Manning. “Hey buddy, do you need a cab?”

Todd lifted his head off the table and looked over at the bar. Damn, he had been dreaming. There was no sign of Blair. “I’m going to feel like roadkill in the morning,” he said to no one in particular. He was about to get up and head out when he felt a hand take his elbow.

“Come on, let’s get you home. With lots of water and some vitamins you’ll feel like a new man.” She grinned at him. “I’ll just take care of your bill.”

He grabbed her hand to make sure she was real and said, “I’ve got money now, I can handle my own binge,” he refused to let her hand go, but managed to pull out several bills from his pocket and deposited them on the table. Looking into her eyes he said. “We’re a long way from home.”

“I don’t know, for me, it’s anywhere you are,” her voice caught. She could see the question in his eyes. “but for now, the Metro Court will have to do.”

“Blair?...”

“Let’s go.” She knew he had tons of questions, but he was three sheets to the wind.  His questions would have to wait.  She slipped an arm around his waist and directed him toward the door.

Carly looked up and saw Todd enter the Metro-Court.  He was obviously inebriated and had his arm around a blonde who was helping him toward the elevator.  She couldn’t make out the face of his helper, but it was obvious she was there for some action. Carly bristled. Who the hell did he think he was, bringing his bimbo into her establishment.  The man knew no boundaries, but he was going to find out she didn’t tolerate that kind of business in her place.  Carly headed up, determined to personally read him the riot act and tell his escort to depart her hotel.

After stepping off the elevator, Blair helped him get to his suite and took him into the bedroom, where he collapsed on the bed, passed out from the drinking.  She took his key card and exited, going down to her room to get her suitcases.  She wanted to be there when he awakened.

Todd woke up suddenly and looked around. There was no sign of Blair and he rolled off the bed heading into the shower. You’re losing it, now you’re imagining her with you all the time.
Shedding his clothes, he stepped in and turned on the cold water. Leaning into it, he tried to clear his head. She’s going to come around, I know she loves me. God, why couldn’t she have been real? The cold water had done the trick. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around him. As he walked out to get some fresh clothes, he stopped, stunned to see Carly Jacks standing in front of him looking furious.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing bringing that streetwalker into my hotel?” She asked angrily.

“What the hell are you doing in my room?  It’s none of your business who I bring to my room, and I’ll have you know I don’t have anyone here.  I’d like you to leave.” Todd’s head was starting to pound.  He was totally confused now. Had he picked up some floozy at the bar and just thought she was Blair? If so, why wasn’t she still there? Nope. There was no way. He had never been that desperate, even in his youth.

“I know what I saw.  Is she in the bathroom?  If you won’t tell her to leave, I will.” Carly moved to go into the bathroom and Todd put out an arm to stop her.

“I asked you to leave,” Todd said, now getting a little perturbed by Carly’s attitude.

Carly grabbed his arm to move it and from behind her came a voice.

“Get your hands off my husband.” Blair couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She had only been gone a few minutes.  Todd was standing there, clad in a towel only and Carly Jacks was all over him.

Carly’s head whipped around and she saw Blair standing there with suitcases.

Todd stared.  Blair was there, and had he heard her right?  She just called him her husband. That had to mean she had forgiven him.  He saw the sparkle in her emerald eyes.  She hadn’t just forgiven him, she was jealous.

Carly spoke up, trying to diffuse the situation. “Blair, it’s not what you think.”

“What I see, is you with your hands on Todd. What I think, is that you decided to go after a millionaire, since Sonny isn’t available?” Blair glared at Carly.

When she first saw Blair, she had planned on being nice and hiding the fact that Todd had some action, on the side, and in the bathroom, but at Blair’s words, Carly saw red. “Hey, I’m not the one making moves on your guy. Get mad at the floozy he’s hiding in the bathroom, I just came up here to get her out of my hotel. I saw them come in a few minutes ago. I won’t have that kind of stuff going on in my establishment.” Carly moved away from Todd and headed to the door. “Sorry you had to find out, but he’s not worth it.”

Todd couldn’t believe it, for one moment everything had been going his way.  Now with a few choice words, Carly had just sunk all his hopes for a reconciliation with Blair.  He stood there waiting for Blair’s anger, as Carly left the room.

At the first mention of a woman in Todd’s bathroom, Blair had wanted to throttle him. Then Carly mentioned she saw him arrive at the hotel with her and Blair’s anger flew out the window. Blair wanted to laugh with joy.  Carly had seen her.  She was the floozy.  She put her suitcases down and looked at Todd standing there, in just the towel.  He had no idea how stunning he was. She began walking toward him.

“Blair, I swear, I don’t know anything about a floozy. There’s no one in my bathroom. Look, I had too much to drink. I don’t even remember how I got back to the hotel.” He watched her, uncertain of what she might do next. There was something very familiar with the look in her eyes and it wasn’t anger. He stood there as she came up to him.

“Who do you think you’re talking to?  I know exactly what you’ve been up to.” Blair said and stopped right in front of him, looking him up and down.

“Blair?” Todd was uneasy and felt extremely vulnerable at that moment. He was completely surprised by what happened next.

Blair reached up and put her hands on both sides of his face, her fingers stroking his ears. “There’s no way I’d let any floozy get her paws on you, and that includes Carly Jacks. You told me, we belonged together, and I’m here to let you make good on your promise.”

He gulped, totally mesmerized by the sensations flooding him as she rubbed his ears. “My promise?”

“That you would never stop trying to get us back together. Remember?” Her thumb began caressing his scar.

Todd looked directly into her emerald eyes and knew without a doubt she had returned to him. “I love you,” he said simply.

“I know.” She gently met his lips for the first time since they had made love all those long months ago, and his arms encircled her, pulling her close. His chest felt wonderful against her hands, but she noted that she was extremely overdressed.

Todd intensified the kiss and realized she had an unfair advantage on him.  He was already naked under his towel.  She could easily have her way with him.  Hell, he really needed to level the playing field.  She was still fully clothed. It was time to remedy that situation.  He stopped kissing and looked at her, remembering their first honeymoon night when Blair had stood calmly and let him undress her.  Now with her hands on his shoulders, she waited for him to make the next move.

His hands made their way back to the front of her blouse and he slowly unbuttoned it. Starting at the top button and working down, he exposed her delicate lace bra, his hand touched her smooth skin and slid down from her long beautiful neck and came to rest in her cleavage and then lightly caressed the tops of her breasts showing above the lace. Blair’s breath had increased, but she still waited and closed her eyes as his hand dropped to finish unbuttoning her blouse. She dropped her arms and he removed her top letting it fall to the ground. He then turned her around and kissed the nape of her neck as he undid her bra and let it join the blouse. She quivered, as his hands caressed her breasts and his mouth trailed kisses across her shoulders. Then he released the zipper to her skirt, and it too fell to the floor. She stood there, the playing field leveled; he, with only the towel, and she, with only her panties and shoes. “It’s time,” he whispered in her ear. He watched as she stepped from her heels and turned around to once again face him.

“Most definitely.” She replied. She wasted no time and recaptured his lips. Her hands clutching his broad shoulders then moving to caress his back.

Todd’s hands wrapped into her hair as he deepened his kiss. Breathing in every part of her like a man desperate for air, he then lifted her in his arms and walked to the bed, “I’ve missed you.” He laid her down gently and stood for a moment looking at her.  "You’re really here with me. I can’t believe it.”

Blair lifted her hand and held it out to him. “Believe it. I’m here for you and I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to come home.”

Todd swallowed and took her hand laying down beside her. He began to explore every inch of her with his mouth and tongue, making his way down to her sweet core. As he worked he listened to her moans and relished when he made her shiver. She was ready for him and he entered her, feeling her tighten around him. Suddenly, he stopped and pulled out. His head had begun to pound again and he dropped on the bed beside her.

“Todd, what is it?”

“I drank way too much tonight.” He lay there with his eyes closed for a minute praying the pain would go away. When he opened his eyes again, he saw Irene standing at the end of the bed.

“You poor deluded man. You really think Blair is here. You’ll never find happiness.” Irene taunted.

You are not here. Go away! He watched as she shook her head and waved at him. He closed his eyes and couldn’t stop the sob that escaped.

Blair looked at him in alarm. He had started to cry softly and she couldn’t understand what brought it on. “Todd, what’s the matter?” Todd rolled away from her as if he hadn’t heard her.

He sat on the edge of the bed. He said aloud, “You’re pathetic Manning. This isn’t real. It’s just another crazy figment of your imagination. You’re never going to get Blair back. She hates your guts because you killed Victor. Face it, Irene won’t ever let you be happy.”

Blair was stunned. “Todd, it’s not your imagination. I’m right here behind you.”

At the sound of her voice, Todd dropped his head in his hands. “I give in Irene. You’ve won. I’m certifiable.” He began to cry deep gut-wrenching sobs.

Blair was scared. How was she going to get through to him?  She climbed off the bed and knelt down in front of him.  She lifted his face out of his hands. “You’re not certifiable. I don’t hate you. I could never hate you.” She looked into his eyes and he reached for her cheek.

“You’re such a beautiful fantasy. If my head wasn’t killing me right now, I could really enjoy this.” He said through his tears. She seems so real.  He wiped his eyes with his hand.

Blair couldn’t believe it.  He was touching her and he still didn’t believe in the reality of it. “Todd snap out of it. I’m real and I’m right here,” she said angrily.

“You even get mad like her. This is one fantasy I could get to like.” He smiled ruefully, still not realizing the truth.

In frustration, Blair hauled off and slapped him. “I’m real, damn it!” he looked at her in shock and she said. “Oh God, I’m sorry. Todd, please! It’s me, Blair.” She kissed him putting everything she had into the kiss.

He was startled by the slap, but her kiss was heavenly. Then he tasted her tears. They were salty, warm and wet. She was crying. Blair was crying. He pulled free of the kiss and stared hard at her. Her beautiful green eyes were filled with tears, some were falling down her cheeks. He reached up and touched a tear and brought it to his lips. It was real. She was real. “Blair?” He dropped to the floor hugging her and sobbing.

Blair held him, her tears joining his. Oh, Todd, what have you been through? “I’m really here and I’m not going anywhere.” She whispered, hugging him tighter.
